- ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
The inaugural Johnnie Walker Australian Golf Classic was held between December 7th – 10th, 1989 at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. The event was promoted and organized by David Inglis and Associates (DGI) and Johnnie Walker were the naming rights sponsors. Prize money was one million dollars, making the event the richest golf tournament in Australia. The 1991 Johnnie Walker Classic was played at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney.
