  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Laurence Harnett (1798-1848) was one of the pioneers in the Cooma-Monaro region, purchasing the 'Rosebrook' property in 1840. Married to Ellen Maria Harnett they had 9 children.

    Their son Laurence (Lawrence) Joseph Harnett (1842-1911) was Sergeant-at-Arms in the NSW Legislative Assembly.

    Mary Anne Harnett (1830-1901) was the third daughter of Laurence and Ellen. In 1853 she married Gerald Halligan.

    Catherine (Kitty) Ellen Constance Harnett (1868-1946) was the daughter of Maurice Edward Harnett, eldest son of Laurence and Ellen, and Mary Anne C. Hensleigh (Minnie). Kitty married Charles Augustus Ferguson in 1904. Their eldest daughter, Mary, married John H. Cape in 1931.
