The Australian National Committee for UNICEF (ANCU), NSW State Committee later known as UNICEF Committee of New South Wales, was set up in 1967. Its objectives include to provide a means of broad participation by Australia in the work of the United Nations Children’s Fund.

It was involved in providing advice to the Australian Government, co-ordinating support and conducting public programs on the work of UNICEF. Its activities also included participating in educational programs, promoting the sale of greeting cards and other articles on behalf of UNICEF.

The Committee was also involved in accepting contributions of funds and seeking financial support for the United Nations Children’s Fund, and participating in co-ordinating and planning with voluntary organizations in child relief and rehabilitation in foreign countries.
