    Hungarian-born Georgette Zala arrived in Australia in the 1930s. She established herself in Sydney as a designer, often of reproduction period or European interiors, to Sydney's extensive European migrant community.
  • Scope and Content
    Series 1) Design drawings for interiors and furniture for Mrs Ross, Vaucluse, including side-boards and panelling, chairs, dining tables, incidental furniture and design for study, ca. 1966. Designs are reproduction eighteenth century.
    Series 2) Incidental designs for wall unit, desk and lounge designs
    Series 3) Incidental designs for wall units, record cabinets, chairs and cupboards
    Series 4) Miscellaneous photographs of interiors and features. Includes copper wall panels designed by Zala, a motel reception area and an executive wall cupboard designed for Jacobi & Co. Floor 5 O'Connell House, 1968
    Series 5) Flower stall designed for Martin Place Sydney, 1954
    Series 6) Miscellaneous printed matter including an invitation to the opening of the Chevron Hotel, 1960
