The letter accompanying the donation (dated 29 September 1997) notes that the house was designed for Mr Scorer, a Sydney company director, It was sold in 1950 to the Hon. Edward McTiernan, Justice of the High Court of Australia who lived there until about 1996-97 when the house was sold as a deceased estate. A copy of the photographic record accompanying the building application for a new residence on the site, and copies of these drawings have been lodged with the Ku-ring-gai Council Local Historical Society.
