The Chernobyl Children's Fund, has its origins in 1991 when the Children of Chernobyl Appeal Commitee was formed. Philip Grey Fingleton was Treasurer.

The primary purpose of the fund was to raise money to finance medical teams from the USSR, to come visit Sydney to study medical and rehabilitation procedures for the treatment of leukemia and other related illnesses caused by exposure to radiation. After a period of six months in studying in the latest methods used in the treatment of leukemia and related illness in leading Sydney hospitals, they would return to their own hospitals to train other teams.

Apart from training teams of doctors, the fund also shipped containers of medical supplies to the hospitals in the region, and raised funds for the provision of medical support for children in the USSR who were in need of treatment as a result of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station disaster, and to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of a greater number of children. The fund was disbanded in 1996 due to declining membership
