    Thomas Robertson Thompson, 1856-1922, was born at Castlegate Berwick-on-Tweed, England, son of John Thompson and his wife Elizabeth, nee Dawes. Thompson went to sea as an apprentice on the ship 'Lammermuir' in 1871. He settled in Sydney in 1882. In 1901 Thompson was appointed Harbour Master and Senior Harbour Pilot.
    In 1891 Thompson married firstly Louisa Hughes, 1857-1893, and in 1895 married secondly Louisa's sister, Amy Ann Hughes, 1872-1920.

    ca.1910-1920; 1999; 'The Life Story of Captain T.R. Thompson: To my children', being typescript volume of memoirs written by T.R. Thompson from diaries, logs and personal recollections, ca.1910-1920. Includes excerpts from logs kept by Thompson on ships such as, 'Halloween', 'Lauderdale', 'Blackadder', 'Helvetia' and 'Kosciusko'. Compiled in 1999 by descendents of T.R.
