Sydney Long (1871-1955), born Goulburn, New South Wales, travelled to England in 1910 after arranging for Sydney dealer Adolph Albers to sell work on consignment. In 1921 he returned to Australia for eighteen months and in 1925 he returned again, to live in Sydney. He married Catherine Brennan in 1924. In 1952 he left for London where he died in 1955
