Heather Bird (nee Weir) was born in 1932 and grew up in Northbridge on Sydney's North Shore. After leaving school she worked in the city for Nock and Kirbys. In the late 1940s she contracted tuberculosis and spent more than two years convalescing at the Princess Juliana Hospital in Turramurra. She married Harry Watson Bird in 1956 and the couple moved to Naremburn, where their four children were raised; they later lived in Roseville and then Chatswood. - Scope and ContentMemoirs, compiled 1994-1997, pasted into 'A life album'; 'Black coats and water's edge: biography of a nobody' - an unpublished autobiography written in the third person, ca.1997-1998
