Philip Benham (1942-) poet, graduated in 1979 with Bachelor of Arts from University of Sydney with majors in Psychology, Australian Literature and Education. He was Co-founder and Contributing Editor of Poetry Australia in 1964, Founding Co-Principal Chiron College Balmain from 1968-1976, Assistant Examiner for Higher School Certificate Examination 1969-, Founding Council Member of the Innovative Education Association of NSW 1973-1975, Coordinator of the innovative Humanities Course for Years 7 & 8, St Ursula’s College Kingsgrove 1976-1978. He was also Honorary Secretary Ultimo-Pyrmont Residents Action 1979, Member of the Australian and New Zealand History of Education Society 1980, Founding member of the National Trust NSW Education Committee 1980. He has published poems and critical articles on Australian Literature for Australian and overseas journals and newspapers including Poetry Australia, Quadrant, Makar, Poetry EastWest and The Australian.
