For biographical information about photographer Walter Burke see `The story of my father / by Keast Burke' in The Australasian Photo-review, APR, vol. 61, no. 10, Oct 1954 (pp.630-32) - Scope and ContentThe earliest photographs were taken in New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and San Francisco between 1892 and 1902. A large proportion were taken by Burke on overseas tours in 1938 and 1947-8. The remaining negatives are of Australian subjects photographed between ca. 1905 and 1950.
