    Aviva Layton, author, was born in Australia. She married Canadian author Irving Layton and currently lives in Los Angeles. Aviva Layton has published several books including 'The Singing Stones' (1963), 'How The Kookaburra Got His Laugh' (1975), 'The Magic Stones' (1977), 'The Squeakers' (1980), 'Lofti Mansouri: An Operatic Life' (1982) and 'Nobody's Daughter' (1983). Layton was introduced to Patrick White by Margaret Fink in the early 1970s and corresponded with him until his death in 1990.
