Lucija Berzins, nee Felzbergs, was born in Estonia in 1907. After graduating from the University of Latvia, where her father had been the first vice-chancellor, she became a school teacher and later a lecturer at the university. With her children, Baiba and Guntis, she fled Latvia to escape the Russian invasion and was reunited with her husband Arvids in Germany. The family came to Australia in 1949 and settled in Sydney. Lucija worked as a teacher and was active in the Latvian community; she had five novels published about the Latvian experience in Australia and Europe. - Scope and ContentPapers include : 'An autobiographical essay : a conversation with my other self' [5 p.] and 'Author's bio-bibliography' [9 p.] written in Latvian by Lucija Berzins; bibliography since 1987 compiled by Baiba Berzins; obituary by Baiba Berzins
