  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Margot Pamela Hilton, writer and radio producer and graduate from University of Leeds, was born in the United Kingdom on 18 August 1947. She came to Australia in 1974 and became an Australian citizen in 1983. She has worked as Publicity Manager for Angus & Robertson, Executive Secretary Victorian Premier's Literature Award, Executive Officer Australian Society of Authors and Drama Officer for the Victorian Ministry for the Arts.

    Hilton has written film scripts, speeches, songs and articles, as well as several books. She edited two books: Women on men, 12 well-known Australian women talk to Margot Hilton about their men (1987) and Jokes about blokes (1990), and was co-author with her then husband Graeme Blundell of Brett Whiteley - an unauthorised life (1996). She has also written the play Potiphar's wife (1979, published 1987), scripts for the television series Young doctors (1980) and 'til ten (1989), and for radio the Great wall of China (1991). She has contributed articles to The Bulletin, The National Times, The Sunday Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and the Sun Herald. Hilton was the recipient of an Arts Council Great Britain Grant in 1974 and a Literature Board Grant in 1980.
