Patrick White's first play, 'The Ham Funeral' had its world premiere in November 1961; it was staged by the Adelaide University Theatre Guild after being rejected as too abstract by the governors of the Adelaide Festival. In the production, which was directed by John Tasker, the role of Mr Lusty the landlord was played by Hedley Cullen an amateur actor and professional photographer. - Scope and ContentHedley Cullen's copy of 'The Ham Funeral' script with his speaking parts marked in biro; together with a copy of the program and a set of original negatives and contact prints which record the world premiere production
