    Catalogued using information collected during the New South Wales bicentennial copying of photographs project, 1986.
  • General note

    The kiln properly stacked, as solid as possible to stop the cover from sinking. Firstly, a hollow log with about a 4 foot hollow is stood with a heap of kindling at the bottom. Wood is then stacked around it till about 20 foot diameter at the bottom and shaped like a dome, next covered with straw, watered well, and then covered with earth."
