  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Throughout his life Reginald Byrne was an active member of the Labor Party. He joined the Darlinghurst Political League in 1914 and held the positions of secretary and president at various times until 1927. During World War I he was a strong opponent of conscription. He stood for, and won office in the Bligh Ward in the Sydney City Council Elections of 1927. From 1946 to 1953 he was a member of the Stanmore Labor League. In 1956 he was elected a councillor of the Shire of Blacktown.
