  Attributed to Fortescue Hitchins after stylistic comparison, and similarities of the initial "F", with portrait of Maraina Smith at ML 684 (Mitchell Library).
  This portrait also relates closely to the portrait of her children "Emma, Harriet & Fanny" (ML 1199, Mitchell Library), which has also been attributed to Hitchins.
  This portrait first appeared with "Emma, Harriet & Fanny Samuell" (ML 1199, Mitchell Library) at Lawsons 2 December 1986 lot 95. Both portraits came from Samuell family descendants.
