The Paris Theatre Performance Group Limited (usually known as The Paris Company) was formed with the support of Patrick White and others in March 1978, following the demise of the Old Tote Theatre. Foundation members included directors Jim Sharman and Rex Cramphorn, designers Brian Thomson and Luciana Arrighi, and actors Kate Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Claire, Robyn Nevin, Julie McGregor, Geraldine Turner, John Gaden, Arthur Dignam and Neil Redfern. The Paris Company's performances were staged in the Walter Burley Griffin designed Paris Theatre in Liverpool Street, Sydney (now demolished), which was renovated for the purpose with assistance from the theatre's owners The Sydney City Council and a grant from the New South Wales Government. Only two plays (Dorothy Hewett's Pandora's Cross and Louis Nowra's Visions) were performed before the company ceased operations.
