  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Nellie Allan lived at 20 Prosper St. Rozelle during the 1920s and 1930s, and later she moved to Moore Park. She is believed to have worked with John Devine at the radio station 2GB and to have sung on stage at the Capitol Theatre to the accompaniment of the organist, My Billy. Her diaries mention theatrical names and it is probable that she performed aboard passenger liners. Her autograph book contains the autograph of Don Bradman. In 1926 a group of North American Indians visited New South Wales and Victoria on a performing tour. They then sailed to New Zealand. Nellie corresponded with a family named Tuchawena. She arranged to have their photo taken, and attended their performances.
