The inaugural meeting of the Society of Entomologists, Sydney was held at Science House on 20 Feb. 1953. C. E. Chadwick was elected President of the first Council. A proposal to change the Society's name was made at the general meeting of December 1962 and the Entomological Society of Australia (N.S.W.) was ratified at a special meeting held on 18 Jan. 1963. In Sept. 1962 a publication committee had been elected to publish a journal, the first volume appearing in 1964.

This collection documents the activities of the Entomological Society of Australia (N.S.W.). Contents include financial records, 1953-1962; correspondence, galley proofs, photographs and miscellaneous material, 1960-1965; listing of editorial files, including correspondence, authors' manuscripts, photographs and galley proofs, 1936-1979.
