    Captions from accompanying notes
The house was originally designed by E. Blacket in 1868 for Lebbeus Hordern and called 'Stramshall'. Another storey was added by Thomas Rowe for J.T. Neale and the house renamed `Kurrahjeen' (1877), then 'Lugarno' (1884). In 1915 the property was used as a private hospital for returned WW1 soldiers. It was acquired by the Commonwealth in 1940 and leased to the Hospital. The lease was terminated in ca. 1950 and the building converted to a naval canteen in 1952. In 1966 it was used as a naval store and become the Navy photographic section and editorial office of Navy News in 1977 -- Curator of Photographs, Mitchell Library, July 1998
