    Norman Warren Waterhouse, son of the renowned architect B.J. Waterhouse made considerable contributions to the built environment as both architect, and structural engineer. His architectural firm, Waterhouse and Lake was responsible for such works as the Kings Cross Picture Theatre, the Y.W.C.A building and as a structural engineer Waterhouse was involved in such projects as the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the David Jones building in Elizabeth Street, the Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society building and the Bondi Beach Improvement scheme. From 1930-1940, Waterhouse diverted his attentions from his architectural/ engineering career to act as managing director of the Australian Aluminium Company.
