  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John Roscoe Nield (1892-1975) went to the Superior Public School in Kogarah and Sydney Boys High School before studying law at the University of Sydney. He enlisted in the A.I.F. aged 23, 1 Apr. 1916 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A40 Ceramic, 7 Oct. 1916. He served as a lieutenant with the 18th Battalion and returned to Australia on the Anchises. He acted as a judge on the New South Wales District Court circuit from 1922 and was appointed in 1933. In 1964 he was made a judge in the Supreme Court where he presided until his retirement in 1962
