  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Richard James Allen was born in Australia in 1960 and he married Karen Pearlman, an accomplished American dancer, in 1985. In the same year they founded 'That Was Fast', a dance company which produced poetry, dance, theatre, film and video. Together they have created a range of works which combine Allen's poetry with dance performance. They have performed in the USA, Europe and Australia. In 1995 they were appointed joint artistic directors of Tasdance in Launceston. They resigned in 1997.
  • Scope and Content
    This collection contains correspondence, diaries and other manuscript material, videos, audio tapes, newscuttings and posters. The manuscripts include performance and production scripts, and annotated drafts of books, articles, essays and lecture notes. The correspondence is mainly of a professional nature with letters from writers, publishers, other artists and performing arts organistions.
