  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Sir Edward Knox (1819-1901) was a director of the Commercial Banking Co. of Sydney from 1845 to 1901. In 1855 he founded the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. He was a member of the first Legislative Council in 1856-57 and was reappointed in 1881.

    Wax seal preserved in original tin box, with parchmant letters patent of Knight Bachelor granted to Edward Knox, both with original red straight-grain morocco case, gilt arms on lid.
