1951; 'Historical Sketch' - a paper read before the Parramatta Historical Society on 13 March 1951. It commences with the voyage of the locally built paddle steamer 'Surprise' to Parramatta in March 1831 and concludes with details of the motor ship 'Culcairn' on the Melbourne run in the late 1940s. Only local steamship companies are treated.
