    Reproduced as colour illustration in Christie's Australian and European Paintings Sale Catalogue, 25 and 26 November 1997, lot 119, p. 104, with note 'When Mr Clem Whiteley, the artist's father, sold his home the painting was included in the sale'.
    With label of 'Lauraine Diggins Fine Art ... Melbourne' on reverse
  • Attributions / conjectures

    Previously attributed to Brett Whiteley by Christies Melbourne and dated late 1950s. Research undertaken by Curator, Research & Discovery, May 2018, indicates that the painting was not by Whiteley and dates from the early 1940s.
