William Henry Snee, born in England, disembarked in Melbourne, Victoria in 1853. In 1860 he became Captain and Adjutant to the Royal Victoria Volunteer Artillery Regiment. He was made Major in 1881. Four years later Snee was seriously injured while on duty and medically retired. He took up the post of commander of the Volunteer Cadet Corps of Victoria. He was made Lieutenant-Colonel in 1888 but another serious injury led to his retirement in 1892 - Name
