  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Pantomime and vaudeville were popular forms of entertainment in Australia in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Stanley McKay (1879-1974), was one of Australia’s pioneering tent show and theatre operators, and one of the first 20th century showmen to tour pantomime around Australia and New Zealand. He had an artists leasing arrangement with theatrical entrepreneurs Sir Benjamin John Fuller (1875-1952) and John Fuller (1879-1959). Harry Clay (1865-1925), was a minstrel tenor and vaudeville revue entrepreneur, and provided employment opportunities for local performers throughout New South Wales and Queensland.
