  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Walter Hartley was the grandson of Harry (Henry) Paulton (1842-1917). Harry Paulton was a well-known comic actor and playwright who appeared under the J.C. Williamson management in Australia in the 1890s.

    Harry's children included Agnes, Harry, and Edward - who himself was an author and playwright.

    Walter Hartley performed as an actor, as well as writing and performing radio plays, and writing theatre reviews.

    Small box of cut film strips and loupe; and envelope containing small roll of film - 'This little bit of film is all that remains of an old silent movie "The Call of the Road" ... and the man is Victor McGlaglen [McLaglen]. It was his first acting part, and in later years he went on to Hollywood and made many movies, including 'The Informer' in which he won an Academy Award'
