  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Geoffrey Oswald Hawkins, a surveyor of Bendigo, Victoria enlisted in the A.I.F. on 1 March, 1915 aged 44. He embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on 23 July 1915 and served with the 28th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement in Egypt, France and Belgium. He was wounded in action Sept. 1916 and hospitalised with trench feet in Nov.-Dec. 1916. He left France for London 8 Dec. 1918 and was taken on the staff of War Records. From Sept. 1919-Apr. 1920 he was with the War Graves Commission in the Dardenelles
