  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John Kendall, dancer was born in Sydney. He received training from Australian producer-actress Doris Fitton at her Sydney playhouse the Independent Theatre and from the Halliday Twins (Joan and Moncia’ former soloists of the Borovansky Ballet Company. Following this he became soloist with the ‘Western Australian Ballet Company’. He then branched into musical comedy. His roles have included Marcel in ‘The Boy Friend’, Jocko in ‘Lola Montez’, Tommy in ‘Music Man’, and Kralarome in ‘The King and I’ as well as leads in ‘Don’t make waves’ and ‘A Bunch of Ratbags’. As a dramatic actor he appeared with the Perth Playhouse before moving to Adelaide where he produced ‘The King and I’ at Cottage Theatre. His association with Ric Marshall was carried through into the first production of ‘The Clown who lost his circus’ in which John played the Clown and choreographed the dances. He features in leading Australian Night Clubs in Sydney including Chequers, the Latin Quarter, Chevron Hotel and in Melbourne in the Lido Theatre-Restaurant. John was bought to Malaysia for the Liberal Arts Society as solo dancer in ‘Annie Get Your Gun’. He toured South East Asia with his own act, compered his own show on television ‘Personally Yours’ and was television announcer choreographer-dancer for ‘Tonight Shows’ throughout Australia. He danced as soloist in the Tivoli production of ‘American Jazz Ballet’.
