    William Thompson was The Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust's stage manager for the 1956 tour of Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, and later productions which toured Broken Hill and Adelaide in 1957 and 1958.
  • Scope and Content
    1956-1958; Prompt copy playscript of Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, by Ray Lawler, dating from the play's first tours after the original Sydney and Melbourne seasons. This copy typescript documents the working changes made to the play through the first touring performances and after the London production. The playscript contains many examples of revised typescript, either pasted over the original text or on the facing page, with handwritten markings identifying the passages replaced. Also included are alternative opening setting directions, manuscript changes and deletions both to the photocopy typescript itself and to passages of revised typescript, and manuscript notes, lighting and prompt cues in several different hands on versos adjacent to typescript.
