    Keith and Irene Smith launched 'Earth Garden', Australia's first self-sufficiency magazine, in 1972. The magazine promotes practical ecology, recycling, and a sustainable lifestyle.

    Keith and Irene edited Earth Garden together for 15 years and have since written a number of books, including The Hard Times Handbook, and The Australian Self-Sufficiency Handbook.

    The Aquarius Festival was a ten day event held in May 1973, co-directed by Graeme Dunston and Johnny Allen and organised by the Australian Union of Students. It aimed to celebrate and promote alternative thinking and sustainable lifestyles.
