Alwyn D. Quoy is a second-generation Chinese Australian who was born in Randwick, N.S.W., in 1916. During World War II he served with the 31 Squadron and 77 Squadron in the Royal Australian Air Force. In 1953 he was instrumental in establishing the 77 Squadron Association which became the Kittyhawk Squadrons' Association. In 1979 the name changed to the Fighter Squadrons' Branch of the Royal Australian Air Force Association. He is the author of Chinese Recipes for Home Cooking (1951) and Homestyle Chinese Cooking (1991). In 1997 he was awarded the Order of Australia chiefly for his charity work and contribution to the welfare of ex-servicemen. - Name
