Mary Reibey (nee Haydock) arrived in Sydney from England in 1792 having been sentenced to seven years transportation for theft. In 1794 she married Thomas Reibey, a merchant and landholder. After his death in 1811 she became a prosperous businesswoman in her own right with interests in trading vessels and property. She died in 1855, a wealthy and respected member of colonial society. - Scope and ContentCrown grant of land at Macquarie Place, Sydney. Signed and sealed by Lachlan Macquarie on 25 August 1812 with subsequent endorsements, 1822, 1880 and 1884.
