    John Watts (1821-1902) emigrated to South Australia in 1840. He became manager of Eton Vale, the property of Sir Arthur Hodgson on the Darling Downs, Qld. From 1860, he held the seat for Drayton and Toowoomba in the Queensland Legislative Assembly, and was Secretary for Land and Public Works in 1866-1867. He wrote his `Personal Reminiscences' in 1901.
  • Scope and Content
    The document comprises a description of the 3 known copies of `Personal Reminiscences'; a colour photocopy of photographs of an original copy alongside a new edition produced by family members in 1988 and re-printed in 1995; a copy of a letter from the Queensland Parliamentary Library acknowledging the donation of one copy to its care; and part of the Watts-Peppercorn family tree.
