    Peter Hopegood (1891-1967) was born in England and came to Australia in 1924. After working on a pearling lugger and as a jackeroo he became a journalist and freelance writer, publishing his first book of poems, Austral Pan and Othar Verses in 1932. Other books followed - Thirteen from Oahu (1940), Circus at World's End (1947) and Snake's-Eye View of a Serial Story (1967). His earlier work shows the influence of Hugh McCrae and the Lindsays.
