He was well known for his tree-planting schemes demonstrated from the 1930s on his ‘Sherwood’ property in the Cooma district, using an irrigation system known as Kingline, a variant of keyline. He was also a keen yachtsman having developed a winged keel long before Ben Lexcen’s design. He was a member of the Royal Australian Naval Sailing Sailing Association (RANSA).
