Norman Lindsay (1879-1969) was born in Creswick, Victoria. Primarily known as a multi-talented artist (painter, etcher, cartoonist, sculptor, illustrator and model-maker) he also wrote novels, essays, literary criticism and reminiscences. His novels include A Curate in Bohemia (1913), The Cautious Amorist (1932), Age of Consent (1938) and Halfway to Anywhere (1947). He also published two children's books - The Magic Pudding(1918) and The Flyaway Highway (1936). In the 1920s he moved to Springwood in the Blue Mountains, NSW where he lived for the rest of his life. He was married twice. By his first wife Kate, he had three sons - Jack (novelist, poet, historian, dramatist and critic), Raymond (artist) and Philip (novelist).
