The Actors Company was a co-operative theatre company established in late 1974 by four actors and directors: Rodney Delaney, Matthew O'Sullivan, Betty Cheal and Lynne Porteous. Between 1975 and 1979 the Actors Company staged more than 40 productions, including Look Back in Anger; The Caretaker; Play it Again, Sam; Hamlet; Othello and The Glass Menagerie. Performances were held at various venues in Sydney, and the company toured throughout New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. In 1978 the company performed three Australian works: David Williamson’s The Removalists, Halloran’s Little Boat by Thomas Keneally and An Evening with Adolf Hitler, co-written by Jennifer Compton and Matthew O’Sullivan. The Actors Company ceased operating in 1979.
