The Young Communist Movement (Australia), a former democratic youth organisation of the Communist Party of Australia, was a successor of the Eureka Youth League which was formed in the 1940s. The YCM worked for socialism, and the eradication of class and sexual and racial exploitation. Affiliated to the World Federation of Democratic Youth in Budapest, the YCM participated in youth and student festivals world-wide to support international working-class solidarity. In the early 1980s it campaigned on several key issues including peace and disarmament and a nuclear-free Pacific. In late 1983 the YCM changed its name to Eureka Youth Movement.
