The heritage studies were part of a development application to Shoalhaven City Council for a medium density housing development at Culburra. The cottage at 210 Penguin Head Road was built in 1947, with distinctive log walls which were independent from the internal timber frame. It was therefore built to appear as a log cabin but was not a true log cabin in construction. The land was owned by Henry F. Halloran and leased to Roland Charles Murray, who built the cottage. Since its construction, the cottage had several owners and was used as a residence and weekender.
