Desmond O'Grady is an Australian expatriate journalist and author who has lived and worked in Rome since the early 1960s. He is a correspondent for various newspapers including The Sydney Morning Herald. His books include the novel, Deschooling Kevin Carew (1974); two collections of short stories, A Long Way from Home (1966) and Valid for All Countries (1979); Raffaello! Raffaello! (1985), a biography of Raffaello Carboni, an eyewitness to the Eureka Stockade; The Victory of the Cross: A History of the Early Church in Rome (1993); The Turned Card: Christianity Before and After the Wall (1995), an exploration of Christianity's role in the fall of European Communism and in ex-Communist Europe; and a collection of essays, Correggio Jones and the Runaways: The Italo-Australian Connection (1995).

Includes literary manuscripts of and/or research material for his journalism, books and plays, some being unpublished; and audio tape interviews with the writers Anthony Burgess and Gore Vidal, and Italian politician Susanna Agnelli
