    Doris Chadwick was Assistant Editor, 1924-1950, and Editor, 1950-1959, of the New South Wales School Magazine. Her novel, John of the Sirius, was the first in a trilogy for children, which was completed by John of Sydney in 1957 and by John and Nanbaree in 1962. This modern Australian children's classic was originally published as a picture serial in the School Magazine and rewritten over the following decade for final publication in book form in 1955. It was highly commended in the 1956 Children's Book of the Year Awards.
