  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Playwrights' Advisory Board was established in Sydney in 1938. The Board assisted Australian playwrights in having their works produced and, in some cases, broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Commission. It also negotiated and collected royalties on the behalf of authors, and judged the annual Journalists' Club competition for three-act plays. Leslie Rees was the Chairman and co-founder of the Board, and Margaret Dobson was appointed Secretary in 1956.
