  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Edward Chester Danson was born on May 1818 in Stratford, Warwickshire, England. He emigrated to Sydney in 1814 on the ship Elizabeth. He did not enjoy much success in his new country and for some years had to rely on an allowance from his brother. He died intestate and without issue on 6 September 1898 at Bective, near Tamworth.
  • Scope and Content
Letters passing between Edward Danson in NSW and his brother John T. Danson in England. Also includes a diary account of Edward's voyage out and copies of articles he wrote on subjects such as the Bush and Aborigines. The letters, many of which are written from Moonbi near Tamworth, contain much interesting information on city and country life in NSW during the 19th century.
