  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Alexander Kenneth Mackenzie (1768-1838), banker and landowner, married Mary Ann Piper, cousin of John Piper. They emigrated to Sydney in 1822 with six children. Mackenzie was appointed secretary and cashier of the Bank of New South Wales. He was granted land at Bathurst and acquired adjoining land to form the estate 'Dochairn'. In 1824 Alexander Mackenzie's daughter Jane Mackenzie (1808-1840) married James Norton (1795-1862), solicitor and parliamentarian, by whom she had eight sons and two daughters.
