    Elizabeth (Beth) Newland (1936-1994) historian and tutor of Australian science.
  • Scope and Content
    Elizabeth Newland research papers, gathered ca. 1970-ca. 1992, concerning Australian colonial science, Dr George Bennett and other 19th century scientists (including Rev. W.B. Clarke, Gerard Krefft, Paul Strzelecki, John Lotsky, T.H. Huxley, Richard Owen, William Haacke, and William Hay Caldwell), mainly compiled during Elizabeth Newland's research for her Master of Arts thesis (copy included) and PhD thesis; together with tutorial and seminar papers from the Universities of Wollongong and NSW. The papers consist mainly of photocopies of primary sources (correspondence) and secondary sources (journal articles, book extracts, conference papers, manuscript transcriptions, and newscuttings.)
